Over the coming months, we’re going to put the spolight on our members, past current and new on this page. We hope you’ll join us in commemorating those who no longer are with us, discover some wonderfully unusual and creative people in our midst, and meet new Brandeis friends. In the process, we know you will gain wonderful insight into our members and the good work we do for Brandeis National through our BNC Desert Chapter.
Our Desert Chapter mourns the loss of one of our members, Shirley Cohen.
JUDITH KARON (picture, left). When she arrived in Sun City a little more than a year ago, Judith Karon knew she was going to play bridge and probably explore volunteer opportunities. Having moved here from Northern Minnesota knowing only one person, she asked one of the women she met, Rita Ban (picture, right), how she kept herself busy. An invitation to a Brandeis’s New Member Event was just the ticket! It was quickly followed by attending our Showcase. As a retired University administrator she found programs that were both intellectually stimulating (Current Legal Issues) and personally satisfying (Family Dynamics). Through these groups and special events, she wound up making new friends and putting down roots. According to Judith, “after living in the same place for over 40 years, the BNC Desert Chapter gave me just what I needed to feel at home and part of a real community!”
