Event: Springfield Museum of Art Tours, September 7

Are you a fan of modern art and/or jewels and gems and/or Doctor Seuss? Then you should join BNC Hartford at the Springfield Museum of Art on September 7th! During this event we will go on three docent-led tours taking us through the worlds and works of Chagall and Doctor Seuss as well as an exhibit of gems and bejeweled art pieces from around the world.

Marc Chagall is known as a prominent modernist artist and a quintessential Jewish artist of the twentieth century. His Eastern European Jewish roots served as inspiration, especially in earlier works, as he would continue to advance modernism in essentially every medium. During Chagall’s tour we will learn about the artist and his contemporaries. The museum also hosts a Chagall for Children exhibit that you should feel free to check out unguided.

Doctor Seuss, beloved children’s writer, is celebrated in the brand new The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum. Theodor Geisel, the Doctor himself, was a Springfield native. The museum itself was created in collaboration with his family. Through our tour we will learn about its creation and the man himself.

The Jeweled Objects of Desire tour will take us through the world of jewels and gems in their use in art and decoration. The exhibit features both objects designed to be precious and everyday objects made special by their adornment.

This event has a limit of 15 people, so register ASAP!
