Event: 28th Book and Author – March 12

Join us on March 12th for the 28th annual Book and Author Event! We have a wonderful lineup of authors for our panel, in addition to the chance to buy the books at the event, and a boutique which start at 9:00 and personalized book signings at 9:30. Lindsey Reiser of CBS 5 News will act as our moderator as the authors speak before and after lunch. This years featured authors are New York Times Bestsellers Kristin Hannah, Tina Brown, A. J. Finn (aka Dan Mallory), Tayari Jones, and Steven Ross.

Kristin Hannah’s new novel revolves the Allbright family as they struggle with the realities of PTSD, mental health, and lack of homesteading knowledge in the face of an Alaskan winter. Shot through with significant events and cultural phenomena of the 1970s Hannah weaves the gripping tale of a family pushed to the edge of the world, sanity, and survival.

Tina Brown’s book The Vanity Fair Diaries is a nonfiction account of Brown’s eight years at Vanity Fair spent revitalizing the struggling magazine. We get a glimpse at the life of a wheeler and dealer in New York’s cutthroat media scene, filled with office politics, innovation, and backstabbing. We follow Brown not only through the behind the scenes stories of Vanity Fair’s coverage and covers, but through her personal journey of settling in a new country and juggling work life and family life.

A. J. Finn (AKA Dan Mallory)’s debut novel The Woman in the Window has set the publishing world buzzing. Long before it’s publication date of January 2018, the book had been flagged as a hot new title with plans to publish in 36 languages with a film adaption by Fox. This dark, psychological, thriller fills the reader with Hitchcockian foreboding as we follow NYC resident and agoraphobe Anna Fox’s decline into paranoia after witnessing a crime.

Tayari Jones’ An American Marriage is the combination of a love story and the American dream, but gone wrong. The unexpected and uncontrollable separation of a happy couple and the rekindling of an old friendship are set against the backdrop of the New South and a failed justice system. Jones’ intimate novel examines the complexities of emotional security and love.

Steven Ross’ new history book uncovers the true little-known history of the Nazis’ foothold in Los Angeles, California. With a plot involving a terror campaign and the take over Hollywood, the biggest propaganda machine in the world, the hope was inciting pogroms across the country. The harrowing story of the plot exposure by Leon Lewis and his Jewish spy ring of veterans and their wives shines light on just how close America came to succumbed to Nazi influence.
