Letter From the President

Dear Friends,

Incredibly, it is the beginning of a new year for BNC.  The Study Group committee, led by Ann Zall, is hard at work putting together another exciting year of fun and informal, mostly peer-led learning. Meantime, this summer, we are enjoying some special programs such as a visit to a chocolate factory.

Check out the website BrandeisNOW (www.brandeis.edu/now/) to see the current excitement on campus….and what alumni are accomplishing. Those of us fortunate enough to have visited the Rose Art Museum (rated one of the top contemporary collections in the Northeast) were excited to read that the collection continues to grow and to become even more relevant with new works. This spring season features previously unexhibited works from the Louise Nevelson archives, a short film from Cuban-American artist Ana Mendieta and a Tommy Hartung exhibition featuring pieces made specifically for the Rose.

Visitors can get an up-close look at the fascinating behind-the-scenes work that goes into maintaining the museum’s collection. “Collection at Work” turns the Lois Foster Gallery into a series of workstations for museum staff as they maintain and document items from the Rose’s renowned permanent collection.

On a local level, the chapter is always seeking help and new ideas. We fear we are losing the energy we always enjoyed….the key to the chapter’s success, and we need you to step up and be a part of our future. Only with your help do we maintain our strength and the ability to offer you what has come to be our objective….education and socializing along with the support of Brandeis University.

With great affection,
Linda Epstein
