It seems that I was just wishing you all Happy New Year when I see that it’s almost spring….with Passover, Easter and other special days to celebrate.
I am most excited about our upcoming fundraiser, Cabaret on April 23. The committee has worked long and hard planning a spectacular brunch inspired by the finest of European choices (crepes anyone?), and the stellar duo of Wendy and Rik, direct from Los Angeles, will provide the afternoon’s entertainment. Compared to Steve and Edye, with appearances worldwide, they bring extraordinary talent to their performances, and memories to you. Starting at 11 a.m. at the El Camino Country Club, this is going to be the San Dieguito Chapter’s day to remember. Make your reservation now to be sure you are included. Proceeds are dedicated to the BNC Scholarship Fund.
I urge you to go on the website BrandeisNOW (www.brandeis.edu/now/)to see the current excitement on campus….and what alumni are accomplishing. Those of us fortunate enough to have visited the Rose Art Museum (rated one of the top contemporary collections in the Northeast) were excited to read that the collection continues to grow and to become even more relevant with new works. This spring season features previously unexhibited works from the Louise Nevelson archives, a short film from Cuban-American artist Ana Mendieta and a Tommy Hartung exhibition featuring pieces made specifically for the Rose.
Visitors can get an up-close look at the fascinating behind-the-scenes work that goes into maintaining the museum’s collection. “Collection at Work” turns the Lois Foster Gallery into a series of workstations for museum staff as they maintain and document items from the Rose’s renowned permanent collection.
It’s my hope you are captivated by the personnel ‘want ad’ in the Bulletin. We are losing that energy we always enjoyed….the key to the chapter’s success, and we need you to step up and be a part of our chapter’s future. Only with your help do we maintain our strength and the ability to offer you what has come to be our objective….education and socializing along with the support of Brandeis University.
With great affection,
