On February 1, Nancy Duong from the New York Fed visited the Economics
Department and IBS to give a talk on “Risks, Opportunities and the
Ethical Aspects of Public Financing.” Nancy discussed the functions of
the municipal market, its institutional players, and key policy and
regulatory issues particularly as related to key ethics concepts.
Within this discussion, she elaborated on the role that the Federal
Reserve plays in monitoring and regulation of the municipal market.
The event ended with a description of the Fed, structure and role of
the New York Fed within the Federal Reserve System, and career tracks
for students.
