Professor Menon attended and presented a paper at the Population Association of America (PAA) annual meetings in New Orleans from April 11-13th. The PAA is a professional, scientific organization dedicated to research in labor, health and demography, and is composed of economists, sociologists and demographers from universities in America and across the world. The PAA is a popular annual meeting since it affords visibility to the research presented and the quality of feedback on papers is high.

Professor Menon’s paper, co-authored with Prof. Brainerd, is entitled “Seasonal Effects of Water Quality on Infant and Child Health in India,” and was presented in the session on “Spatial and Environmental Factors Influencing Infant and Child Health” in the afternoon of April 12th. Other papers in the session considered health outcomes in countries ranging from Mozambique to Sweden to Sub-Saharan Africa, using new empirical methods in applied economics and demography.
