“Visions of the American Environment: Images to Action”, FYS43B

Laura Goldin

In this course we’ll explore how we shape our relationship with the natural world through the lens of standout books, films and works of art, all on the basis of a strong underlying social justice theme,.  This is an experiential learning (EL) and community-engaged learning course, with plenty of field trips and hands-on exploration.  Students also have the option of participating in the 2-credit practicum “Housing for Good: Safe, Environmentally Healthy and Just”, which includes fair and safe housing and discrimination law training and practice at the Brandeis/WATCH Housing Advocacy Clinic.  The course is an elective for ENVS, AMST and SJSP.  To register, go to  http://www.brandeis.edu/registrar/schedule/classes/2013/Spring/8000/all
