Prof. Theodore "Ted" Johnson
WALTHAM, MA – This past February, Brandeis University President Jehuda Reinharz led a delegation of faculty and staff to India on a comprehensive trip designed to strengthen Brandeis connections there. The University plans to follow up that trip additional visits and exchanges, as well as the continuation of the Soli Sorabjee Lecture Series on our home campus.
From July 20 – 28, Prof. Theodore “Ted” Johnson will be traveling to Delhi for the Initiative. Prof. Johnson, whose expertise is in international coexistence and conflict negotiation, will be meeting with faculty and staff from The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and TERI University about a possible joint academic program involving Brandeis undergraduates.
The idea would be to develop a pilot summer program together, in which our undergraduates would study issues of sustainable development and take part in field work organized by TERI. Brandeis University is very grateful to TERI for hosting us for this visit, which will also include an excursion to TERI’s Himalayan Centre in Mukteshwar, Uttarakhand.
Prof. Johnson will also be a guest panelist for a TERI seminar on sustainable development, coinciding with the launch of TERI’s new Masters program in Sustainable Development Practice. In addition, he’ll be gathering with alumni from our Heller School for Social Policy and Management, many of whom work for leading NGOs, institutions, and government offices in the Delhi area — including The United Nations Development Program, USAID, and the International Institute of Health Management Research.
