Have you ever wondered how our Brandeis GPS instructors are recruited and selected? Meet Liz Pelberg-Schariter,  our Associate Director of Instructor Recruitment and Operations!

Liz 1 - Brandeis GPS online education - Faces of Brandeis GPS Blog

At Brandeis GPS, Liz recruits instructors for our master’s programs and manages the corresponding on-boarding process.  She also manages operations which relate to the master academic schedule – making sure that the right courses are offered, there are a sufficient number of courses each session, and that they are appropriately staffed.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Liz majored in History during her undergraduate degree and started her career in the finance industry. Though she learned a lot in that field, she found her niche in academia. For the majority of her professional career, she worked at Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business and feels fortunate to have been able to work in a variety of roles – which allowed her to travel internationally, develop programs, and connect with people across industries. During her time at Drexel, she completed her Masters in Communication – she’s always enjoyed doing research (as a history major would!) and enjoyed the diverse nature of the field.

Having spent so many years in academia, it was important for her to continue her career at an institution on the forefront of research and connected to the surrounding community. She’s known of Brandeis her whole life – her aunt went here! Her current position is a combination of the best parts of her previous roles.

Her role as the Associate Director of Instructor Recruitment and Operations supports Brandeis GPS’s mission by enhancing the GPS community through new connections – be it instructors, memberships, or forums. Recruiting is a large part of her job and it is important that we have the best instructors for our students – leaders with a depth and breadth of experience and their finger on the pulse of their industry. She loves getting to interact with people and learning about our instructors’ backgrounds and passions.

When she’s not too busy recruiting and getting to know our instructors, she’s playing with her black lab named Hemingway, reading (currently in the middle of 3 books!),  and cooking and baking!
