Summer Construction Update (8/8)

May 25th, 2017 · 1 Comment

Summer construction projects in and around the Library will limit access to certain areas and collections. Regular updates will be sent to keep everyone on campus informed of service interruptions. Currently:

  • Plaza construction has meant the closing of the main Goldfarb and Farber entrances for the duration of the summer. Visitors may enter through the doors opposite Usdan. This work will also involve loud demolition and drilling work, which will be audible throughout the building intermittently.
  • From now until approximately August 11th, Farber 1 will be closed to all visitors, due to HVAC updates. However, the MakerLab on the Farber Mezzanine will remain open during construction. Please use caution when making your way to the space.
  • Visitors may speak with the Information & Borrowing desk for assistance with collections made inaccessible by the construction. Such requests may take longer to process, so your patience is appreciated.

We appreciate your patience as we make these much-needed improvements to the building. Watch this space for updates!

It’s an exciting day for the Brandeis University Press! James Wood’s “The Nearest Thing to Life,” published in the Mandel Lectures in the Humanities Series with Brandeis University Press is nominated for the National Book Critics Circle Award in the Criticism category. The Mandel Lectures in the Humanities is sponsored by the Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel Center for the Humanities at Brandeis University.

The National Book Critics Circle was founded in 1974 at New York’s legendary Algonquin Hotel by a group of the most influential critics of the day, and awarded its first set of honors in 1975, 40 years ago. Comprising more than 700 working critics and book-review editors throughout the country, the NBCC annually bestows its awards in six categories, honoring the best books published in the past year in the United States. It is considered one of the most prestigious awards in the publishing industry.
