The application for the 2019 program is now open and will be up for two weeks. Applications are due by 11:59pm on February 24th and offers will be distributed on or before March 27th.
History of the Program
The father of a Brandeis student reached out to help connect students with surgeons in his field of Colorectal Surgery. Over the years the program has expanded to also include OBGYN and General Surgery. Students have the opportunity to shadow in Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania and California. The duration of each site varies anywhere between 2 to 8 weeks and have the potential to extend into the academic year. Some sites are primarily research based whereas others are clinical or offer a blend of both.
All Brandeis students are welcome to apply regardless of major or year, however preference is given to sophomores and juniors who have completed 3-6 semesters of coursework. To be a competitive candidate we recommend having a minimum GPA of 2.7.
