I want to take a moment to applaud the men’s basketball team — off to the best start in Brandeis history. The Judges are 11-0, a mark that surpassed the 1956-57 team for the longest winning streak to start a season.
Tonight, they are in Pittsburgh take on Carnegie Mellon University. The team travels to Cleveland Sunday for a game against Case Western University before returning home.
I was in the stands on Jan. 8 when they tied the record at 10-0 with a stunning 61-59 win over New York University. Down by 18 points with just under 11 minutes to go, Brandeis stormed back and won it with a Derek Retos’ 3-pointer at the buzzer, our only lead of the game. It was thrilling.
So enjoy the run, and support the men and all our other Brandeis teams. I hope to see you out there.
