Brandeis Sociology Alum Receives Glitter Prize

BrandeisNOW featured Patricia Hill Collins, an alumna of the Sociology department that got both her Bachelor’s and her Doctorate from Brandeis. She received the prestigious Gittler Prize for her contributions to racial, gender and religious relations. Collins will present a lecture entitled “With My Mind Set on Freedom: Black Feminism, Intersectionality and Social Justice” and receive the $25,000 Oct. 29 in Rapaporte Treasure Hall from 2 to 4 p.m. According to President Frederick Lawrence, “It is difficult to overstate Professor Collins’ contribution to our understanding of the intersection of race, gender and justice in this country.’’ For more information on Dr. Collins and the Gittler Prize, please read the BrandeisNOW article.
