Position: Vice President of Engineering/Chief Technology Officer

Their Mission:  To provide quality professional learning, ongoing support, programs, and tools to educators whose goal is to educate students to become fluent independent readers.

This is a newly created position. He/she will be a key member of the executive leadership team and report directly into the Publisher/CFO. The person in this role will lead the company in their next generation of web and digital offerings and must have a strong background in leading high-performance product development teams.

Professional Requirements:

  • Experience building and leading high performance product teams that partner well with marketing, program management, and customer support
    • Creative technology leader who still loves to “code” with product development experience in agile methodology processes, leading mobile and web application development teams
    • Demonstrated competency in leading technology teams, including managing resources across multiple projects in a complex environment
    • Superior analytics, planning, innovation and product development mindset
    • Demonstrated interest in and understanding of emerging educational and product technology trends and opportunities that prepare students and drive highly personalized learning experiences
    • Knowledge of best practices for data security, especially regarding student or other sensitive data; identity and access management
    • Knowledge of Data & Information Management: Business Intelligence, Machine Learning, Analytics
    • History of working with a Service Oriented Architecture, REST
    • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills – with the ability to influence, facilitate, collaborate and manage cross-matrix team
    • Knowledge of web application technologies required including .Net Framework, JavaScript, contemporary JavaScript libraries such as “Knockout.JS”, “Angular.JS”
    • Knowledge of mobile technologies including Objective-C, xCode, Swift, Xamarin, Java, Eclipse
    • Knowledge of cloud technologies including Microsoft Azure and Cloud Computing Strategy
  • Experience in using Gamification in a learning environment a plus

Strongly Preferred:

  • Bachelor or Master’s CS Degree
  • Passionate about using technology to make a difference in a person’s life
  • Start-up experience

Position: Business Analytics Manager, Senior Data Analyst, Data Analyst

This company is looking to hire several data scientists/business analytics professionals into the Market Research & Analytics group within Con Ed’s Energy Efficiency & Demand Management Department. Specifically, the company is planning to hire one manager level and two to three individual contributor “analyst” level positions. This is an exciting career opportunity for experienced data scientists/business analytics professionals interested in the energy industry (ideally with some experience already, but interested and eager to learn is good). More specifically, the positions are ideal for those particularly interested in helping one of the country’s largest and oldest utilities deliver new products and services to customers like energy efficiency, smart thermostats, energy storage, fuel cells, and solar.  The energy and utility industry is undergoing significant transformation led by technology innovation, smart meter data, and customer behavior. A little LATTE on the porch #summerofGPS

If you’ve been taking GPS courses for a while, you know that the summer term doesn’t have to put a damper on your summer plans.

Help us prove that, as a GPS student, you can access your coursework from any location — yes, even the beach. Snap a photo of you (with LATTE, of course) in your favorite summer spot, and share your photo with us on Twitter or Instagram. The winner will receive a 15% discount on the fall 2016 course of their choice.

 

Rules and Eligibility

  • Photos must include a clear shot of LATTE and/or the Brandeis app on a computer or mobile device, but NO identifiable data of your fellow classmates.
  • Instagram photos, captions and/or Tweets must follow the submission guidelines noted below.

Additionally, you must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the prize:

  • You complete your summer 2016 course.
  • You are admitted to a GPS program OR you have submitted a completed application to a GPS program no later than Aug. 2, 2016 (this includes new applicants as well as GPS alumni returning for a sequential degree).
  • You are NOT a Brandeis employee (though we invite Brandeis employees to participate for fun!)

Submission guidelines

Please follow these steps to participate:

  1. If you haven’t already, please follow us on either Instagram or Twitter.
  1. Decide what platform you’d like to use to submit your photo (yes, you can use both!)
  1. If you’re using Instagram: tag us in your Instagram photo using @brandeisgps and include #summerofGPS in your caption.
  1. If you’re using Twitter: include @brandeisgps and #summerofGPS in your Tweet.
  1. Email a backup of your image and caption/Tweet to memiller@brandeis.edu.

Submit as many entries as you’d like between now and the end of week 10 (Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. EDT), and we’ll announce the winning photo on our blog before the start of fall registration.
