Thermalin’s world-class team is leveraging breakthroughs with significant IP built on 25 years of research on insulin by Dr. Michael Weiss, Chairman of Biochemistry at Case Western Reserve Medical School (CWRU). Their new molecules, novel formulations, and devices address unmet clinical needs, enable new delivery technologies and reach rapidly developing markets.

Position: Data Scientist

Position Details:

Prepare data visualizations and analysis reports for board meeting, investor presentations and team progress meetings
Format and analyze data to extract key performance parameters
Perform statistical analysis on study results
Update and maintain preclinical studies database/find new ways to improve upon current system

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in life and/or physical science or quantitative major (courses in statistics a plus)
At least 1-3 years experience, post graduation, in an industry setting as a data analyst
At least 3 distinct, observable examples where achieved meaningful excellence
Proficiency in Microsoft excel, Powerpoint (advanced functions, pivot tables, VB macros, charting visuals) and willingness to expand range of skills
Knowledge or experience with any statistical software language (R, Matlab, SAS, Minitab, Sigmaplot, Prism, etc.) is a big plus or willingness to learn
Ability to work in a remote office setting at times and be able to communicate with various professionals in the drug development field

Position: Big Data Engineer

Candidate will be sifting through lots and lots of DATA to identify the METADATA that will support an effective and enjoyable user experience. Candidate will also be programming – building the infrastructure needed to analyze the data.

You need to build data marts.
You need to build traffic models.
You need to build business models.
You need to analyze the way consumers use the client’s site/app.
You need to leverage the significant internal resources that do data mining and machine learning to build recommenders.
You need to analyze data and help to build needed tools.

You must be hands-on and want to solve important business problems that depend on “big data” analysis. You must have serious technical chops and effective communication skills. Sometimes you will build the solution yourself, and sometimes you will be coordinating the efforts of others, but at all times you will be expected to think creatively about solving the business problem.

Required Skills and Experience:

Solid RDBMS operational knowledge with outstanding SQL skills
Ability to transform raw, noisy log level data into useful business fact tables
Solid database design skills
ETL expertise
Computer Science expertise – algorithms, data structures, software engineering
A natural affinity for math, especially for statistics
Ability to understand and communicate business needs
Ability to come up to speed quickly in order to understand and coordinate the work of domain experts – in particular the ability to work effectively with the Machine Learning team.
Strong sense of responsibility: taking pride in your work, leveraging others, owning the problem

Position: Several Positions available in Human Genetics and Computational Biomedicine

The advance of human genetics in recent years driven by the large scale human genome-sequencing and genome-wide association in multiple disease areas has brought the research community and pharmaceutical industry an unprecedented opportunity to utilize this information and technology to facilitate innovative drug discovery and development. Pfizer has now reached a key point at which human genetics is sufficiently mature to aid the drug discovery process in several important areas.

Inflammatory and autoimmune diseases and Neuroscience stand out as areas where genetic research has been successful, suggesting that increased emphasis and resource may yield ever more safe and efficacious precision medicines. A combination of genetic epidemiology and functional genomics will facilitate our ability to identify mechanisms, indications, patients and biomarkers, all of which would be guided by an evidence base in humans.

Opportunities also exist to integrate human genetics with other types of data measured in clinical research such as gene expression via RNAseq, protein measurements in peripheral blood, structural and functional brain imaging, and immune cell responses to treatment. This will enable holistic view of biomarker response. Carefully designed and implemented pharmacogenetic studies of drug responses in clinical trials could provide novel mechanistic learnings to support combination therapy or biomarkers for patient stratification.

Pfizer is looking for experts in human genetics with sound knowledge of applying human genetics and genomics as tools for target discovery/validation, biomarker/indication identification, patient stratification through genetic association analyses and functional biology studies.

The incumbent will support the lead Bioinformatician in supporting and coordinating bioinformatics efforts, working with the user community and collaborators (within NASA, academia and industry) for GeneLab. They will provide support to the omics and bioinformatics community for the software development team. Incumbent will perform other duties and assignments as required.
