Interviews (Story pitches)

  1. The first people I might be able to interview is Yujie Jiang. I probably interview her at this weekend in her apartment.Yujie graduated from Brandeis University this year with an honored Chemistry major. During school, she was a top student, and she was an undergraduate speaker of Chemistry department.

The primary reason why I want to interview her is that she is an important person in my college life. Specifically, she is a kind of person forever with a determined goal and self-disciplined life habits. People see her honors, her presentations and her top GPA, however, the most important thing for me is that her spirit gives me power. She always talks with me about one topic which is “helping others”. She likes to wonder “how should I help one?” This question is always encouraging me and I might ask “What does make you such a real and nice person? Do you have any pity during your college life?”

Furthermore, she is working at the hospital and going to apply for medical schools. I am really interested her pursuit in the medical career. She is preparing essays now and she is trying to understand how could a doctor save patients instead of treating patients only. Thus, I will ask her “In fact, in your opinion, science is not whole meaning of medical career. What will you pursue in the medical career?”The second people I want to interview is Daniel Mooney. I probably interview him on next Wednesday before his production class.

2. The second people I want to interview is Daniel Mooney. I probably interview him on next Wednesday before his production class.

He was my instructor for both film production and motion picture editing classes. I was not a super talented and skilled student for film production or editing, however, Mr. Mooney was the person who always encourages me and inspires me. Thus, I insist working on my film major and film production interest, and because of him, I made progress in editing footages.

I am always wondering what is the difference for Mr. Mooney between teaching students how to edit films and editing films himself? Did both give you a sense of pleasure and satisfactory?

Besides, I want to ask him how do you feel as an editor and producer? Since editing and producing films are two mysterious jobs but with extreme attractiveness for me.

A journalist is a bridge from people to the news. The primary work for journalists is to go out, explore and collect news. A lot of people will regard news as instant, happening information that people should know. My interest as a journalist is to make documentary movies, which, in my perspective, another form of news telling. Speaking of documentary movies, people would feel that most documentary movies are serious, scientific and even a little boring. However, in my opinion, making documentary movies could happen anytime, and they can be both interesting and informative. For example, when I go on a trip, I could interview local people and listen to them talking about fun facts about their hometown. In this kind road documentary movie, people will learn potential stories about local culture and life habits. Also, as a student, it is a good choice for me to interview students about campus events and their campus lives, and in this case, audiences will learn much about campus stories.

On Sept. 3, our Brandeis OLs and new students from Class of 2021 took the shuttle to Science Museum in Boston to celebrate the beginning of an exciting new school year. Every year, on the last day of new students’ orientation, Brandeis will encourage new students to visit Science museum. They got together to chat with each other, dance without worries and laugh like children.

A little over a month ago, Boston Dynamics founder and CEO Marc Raibert was honored to present what the company has been working on in a brief demonstration at this year’s Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders. The highlight was supposed to be a live expo showcasing the new and improved Atlas and SpotMini robots. During the show, the robot fell off the stage and the footage of this part attracted a lot of audiences. However, the video of the Atlas blunder was viewed by few audiences. Thus, audiences love robots fell because they love machines sometimes more like normal human beings instead of extremely clever weirdos.

News should be fresh and people will eager to read news but news maybe not instant. News can be always happening.
