Alumni insights into careers in public health

I just graduated in May with a B.A. in Health: Science, Society, and Policy and I am interested in pursuing a career in community health promotion. To me, this entails considering the roles of the built environment and social and environmental determinants of health to come up with ways to improve physical activity, nutrition, and other health trends in a community. Ideally, I would like to work in a setting where I can combine research, theory, and practice. I hope to gain some experience in the workforce before seeking a dual master’s degree in public health and urban planning. I would like to connect with Brandeis alumni who are in the public health field with similar interests who may be able to offer advice and insight into career opportunities.

Archived Ad: Insight on administrative roles in healthcare

I’m interested in a career in human resources, but after taking a class on American healthcare this semester, I found that I have an interest in that subject as well. The problem I’d love some help on is this: if I decide that I want to pursue a career in healthcare, what should I do? I have thought about a masters in Healthcare Administration, but I am not exactly sure what that entails. The only jobs I really know about are public policy and being a practitioner in some capacity, which doesn’t interest me. I’d love to know more about administrative roles in healthcare that do not involve becoming a practitioner. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer me!
