This is Nicole Zamora, a junior majoring in business and psychology and minoring in creativity, the arts and social transformation. So far, I have identified a deep interest in digital marketing, personal development/advancement, and using art as a vehicle for social change. As I plan for an internship next summer, I would like to connect with people who are in either of those fields to learn more about their experience. I will use these insights to clarify what career path I will further explore this summer and to find out if there is an overlap between any of my interests.
Additionally, feel free to share any internship or career-related opportunities that could help narrow my focus.
Thank you in advance for reading this!

I am a graduating senior majoring in business and economics with a minor in east Asian studies. I studied abroad in Singapore during my junior year taking classes concentrating on marketing, consumer behavior, and international business.
This past summer I interned at a human resources technology startup working in their client services department and I really enjoyed working in the tech and innovation space. Currently, I am a board fellow at the Waltham Chamber of Commerce working on a corporate social responsibility project.
I am looking to apply for entry-level positions that will allow me to develop and apply my qualitative and quantitative skills to create solutions and problem-solve. However, due to my vast interests in marketing, strategy, and social responsibility, I am unsure of what roles would suit my interests and skills. Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I’m a senior majoring in business with minors in art history and philosophy. I am seeking career opportunities in brand management (particularly in the CPG/F&B industries) but have found it to be quite difficult to break into the field. Any advice about how to break into the industry? My previous experiences have been focused on analytics and consulting ranging from startups to Fortune 100 companies, which is why my resume is getting picked up for much more quantitative than creative roles.

I am a graduating senior looking to tackle an entry-level job ideally in marketing, publishing, or digital media. My internship and work experience have given me a thorough understanding of marketing and sales. However, with my majors being in politics and my minors being in creative writing and environmental studies, my practical experience is a unique blend of disciplines. I am currently a Marketing Assistant at Brandeis International Business School, Social Media Strategist for an environmental nonprofit, and an Amazon Prime Student Ambassador for the school year. I prefer to be busy, which is hopefully evident. My dream has always been to enter the publishing industry because I am a passionate reader and amateur book reviewer. I have found it difficult to get past step one when applying to publishing-related roles, so any advice there is absolutely wanted. I am always finding new ways to blend these passions of mine, but am finding it difficult to find a clear path forward. Any advice and discussion are valuable! Thanks.

I’m an HSSP senior interested in healthcare consulting or biotech/pharmaceutical marketing. Healthcare consulting piqued my interest because of its wide reach and variety, so I’m looking for advice on entering the industry, finding companies with employment opportunities, and other potential career paths where health plays a major role in the company.
For several summers I’ve interned for a biotech company in the sales development and marketing departments. I want to keep my foot in the science and technical details while being part of the communications, marketing, and PR within the company. Similarly, I’m looking to hear more about people’s experiences with their roles, companies of interest/mention, and other pathways to be involved in this industry.
It’s helpful for me to hear people’s stories, so hearing where you got where you currently are and lessons you’ve learned on the way is a great help!

I am a second-year international student from Jamaica looking to make connections with those working in the fields of international business and marketing. I have always been interested in the creative and business industries and would love to learn more about how to explore and bridge the two. To date, I have only had internship experience working in accounting as an assistant to the credit controller for an agro-producer and in marketing as an executive marketing assistant for some corporate companies in the Caribbean region. These experiences have been very valuable, but I am now looking to apply and further develop the skills that I have garnered through an internship in the U.S. or wider international market. I am curious to see if there are any alumni who have successfully gone about using their creative skills in the international business market. I would greatly appreciate any advice and guidance on how best to navigate the business industry while abroad as an international student in order to gain valuable internship experience and make some useful connections.

I am an upcoming graduate with interests in technology, strategy consulting, marketing, and data analytics. My past internship experiences have ranged from financial accounting/reporting to marketing consulting and analytics. These experiences have honed my quantitative and analytical skills, and I am looking to continue leveraging them. However, I am currently grappling with applying to jobs online that require or prefer specific technical skills. I am aware that firms train you on software. However, when applying to a position that is highly competitive in regards to having advanced knowledge of specific software, how do I show employers that, although the specific technical/computer skills may not be listed on my resume, I can learn them quickly and thoroughly after landing the job?

Hello! I am a senior at Brandeis University graduating with a major in economics and minors in computer science and business. Economics had always been my favorite subject in high school, and the microeconomics class that I took with Professor Coiner only intensified my interest. Since then, I have studied abroad in the heart of London’s financial services sector where I was able to intern at a high street firm that provided accounting services for small businesses and startups. Now I am looking to apply the analytical skills that I have gained during these four years towards a position in the private sector. I am eager to work for a large firm, preferably in its marketing or accounting and finance departments. Any insight on how to successfully enter this field would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I am a current senior at Brandeis majoring in International and Global Studies with minors in South Asian Studies and Economics. All my life, from my experiences living in India and traveling to numerous other countries, I have developed an immense curiosity of different governments, cultures, and the various problems societies face. I have also focused on development and government and NGOs’ role in promoting it. As a result, I tend to have an international perspective on the issues I care about, often looking at them through an anthropological lens.
Over the past few months, I have become interested in business as well. I would like to pursue an MBA in five to six years from now. In the meantime, I want to employ my communications experience, among other skills, in addition to my curiosity and fields of study, in the private sector. I am keen on working for a large private company, ideally in its marketing department. In the long run, I hope to be involved with multiple businesses in different roles. Some may focus on my areas of study while others are in different industries.
I would appreciate any connections with whom I can get advice and learn about possible opportunities after I graduate in May of 2017. Thanks so much.

I am a recent Brandeis graduate who’s been looking for a job in the communications field (since I’ve had great experiences working in corporate communications during my internships) for a couple of months now.
I was wondering if there were any communication professionals out there that had any advice or could help guide me down the path of landing jobs in the communication field (brand, corporate, marketing, PR, etc.) especially for a recent graduate like myself. It’s been difficult trying to figure out what jobs are meant to be out of your reach or if there are credentials I need to develop first to be considered.

I graduated in May with a BA in Psychology. I always loved working with kids so as I began the Psychology track I thought I would one day be a school psychologist. After years of schooling myself I decided I needed to take a break and join the workforce. I am looking for a job in PR, marketing, communications, or development preferably in a Jewish nonprofit setting but I have opened my options to corporations also. I would appreciate any advice, leads or connections you might have.
Im a senior currently interested in Business, but not sure what I want to do. I like finance, marketing, analysis, international business, and consulting, but I don’t know how to narrow down what I want to do. Until I know what I want, I feel that I can’t really connect with the right people. How did you start your job search, and how and why did your goals change? I have had several networking opportunities, interviews, and even internships, but I am unsure of both how to describe myself and to describe what I seek in a job, which could present an issue during interviews. That said, I would love to hear and speak with any and everyone, to really help me hone in my future. Thanks in advance!
I’m incredibly interested in the public relations field and would love to meet/speak with alumni who have their own PR firms or occupy senior level positions in other firms. I’m specifically interested in corporate communications, government relations and folks working in PR in the entertainment space. In terms of the experience I already have, I established my own nonprofit organization last year called Voices of Conservative Youth that is dedicated to changing the way young people perceive the Republican Party. I’ve done my own PR for the group and have been able to garner a significant amount of media placement in the process. I’m looking for mentorship in the PR field and would love it if you’d connect me with someone who’s willing to provide it. Thanks in advance for the consideration and I’m very much looking forward to hearing from you.
